Well we all know that IP blocker is used to block IP addresses which we do not want to give accesses to our accounts. Similarly cPanel also provides us with this security interface in their server. cPanel allows you to block access to your site for one or more IP addresses or fully qualified domain names.

How to block an IP address from your cPanel account?

In order to deny access to an IP address or range of IP addresses, just go through these simple steps mentioned below:

  • Just enter the IP address or enter the range of IP addresses in the IP Address or Domain text box. You are allowed to enter the IP addresses in any of the following formats:
    1. Single IP address (for example, 10.5.3.333).
    2. Range (for example, 10.5.3.3-10.5.3.40).
  • Implied range (for example, 10.5.3.3-40).
  1. CIDR format (for example, 10.5.3.3/32).
  2. Implied IP address (for example, 10.).

“10.” as an implied IP address implies 10.*.*.*, where each * represents a positive whole number. If you enter 10., the system blocks access to any IP address that begin with 10.

  • Then just select the Add option.
  • cPanel splits up the IP address range that you enter into subnets in CIDR format. The system then adds them to the .htaccess file. Now this interface will display the blocked IP addresses and ranges in the CIDR notation.

How to unblock or give access to the blocked IP addresses?

With a couple of simple steps you can unblock the blocked IP addresses and can give accesses to them. The steps are as follows:

  • Select the Delete option in the Actions column of each of the blocked IP addresses available next the address.
  • Then select the Remove IP option.

Conclusion:

Now you know why do we use the IP blocker interface in cPanel. You also know the procedure that helps us configure the IP blocker. Simply add the IP address of your desire to block from your account. You can also remove the IP addresses with few clicks. You are now able to secure your account from the interferences of other accounts and can manage access of other accounts easily.
