What is the Web Template Editor?

A Brief Overview
The basic function of this feature, The Web Template Editor, is to allow one to create placeholder web pages. Placeholder web pages appear only for the specific account that you have designed them for. A web page designed for a root user, for example, will not appear on the sites owned by reseller accounts.

Where and When do the Web Pages Appear
These web pages become visible to visitors when they find their way into a site on one’s server that meets one of the particular conditions –

 	The owner of the domain suspended the site in question.
 	The site, for whatever reason, was moved.
 	The Domain leads to an incorrect IP address.
 	The site was not configured by the domain owner and in fact, the site does not have an owner at all on your server.
 	There exists a Firewall problem or a connection issue on the given site.

How to Edit a Template File

It is possible to modify Template Files, even from within the WHM interface. The following steps must be enacted to do the same –

  • Select the corresponding Tab for the template in question.
  • Manually make all if the desired or necessary changes and click the Preview icon the view them.
  • Click on the Save icon.

Also, if one wants to revert back to the immediately previous version of the Template one can select the Revert icon. Also, to revert to the original default template one can select the Revert to Default icon instead.

How to Upload a Template File

Uploading a customized template is a simple process. One must select the corresponding Tab for the template to be edited and uploaded. Following this, under the Upload Your Own Template section, select the Choose File option and browse and locate the Template in question on one’s computer. Finally, select the Upload Template option to complete the simple operation.

This feature, the Web Template Editor is thus one that is extremely handy and efficient. The feature is not particularly difficult to master and can assist the user greatly in troubleshooting. The Template Editor can be accessed through the Account Functions segment.
