Introduction

One can navigate to (WHM >> Home >> Email >> Email Deliverability) for working on this feature. This interface helps in identifying problems with one’s server’s mail-related DNS records. These records are used by the system to verify whether other servers can trust it as a sender or not.

Manage the Domain

It can be done through

  • DKIM
  • SPF

DKIM

This section allows one:

  1. To manage the server’s Domain Keys Identified Mail (DKIM) record.
  2. It verifies the sender and the integrity of a message.
  3. It allows an email system to prove that spammers has no hand in altering an incoming message while in transit.
  4. It also verifies that the messages received by one’s server, comes from the specified domain.

One of the security risk can be the Exposure of one’s private DKIM key. If obtained, others can sign emails and impersonate the actual user as a sender. So one must be cautious in providing their private DKIM key to only a trusted user.

SPF

This section allows one:

  1. To manage one’s domain’s Sender Policy Framework (SPF) record.
  2. It verifies that the origination of the messages sent from the user’s domain is from an approved sender.
  3. Allows to copy the Name and Value records provided by the system in the Suggested “SPF” (TXT) Record section.
  4. If one does not have the authority to edit one’s own record, the information can be provided to the person responsible for the listed nameservers in order to fix it.
  5. Helps in customizing the suggested SPF record that directs the user to the Customize an SPF Record

Customize an SPF Record

One can customize an SPF record through:

  • Domain Settings
  • IP Address Settings
  • Preview Of The Updated Record

Domain Settings

  1. Additional Settings: allowing the system to send mail from one’s domain.
  2. Additional MX Servers: allowing MX entries to send mail from one’s domain.

IP Address Settings

This section allows one:

  • To add additional IP Address blocks to the domain’s SPF record.
  • Automatic inclusion of one’s server’s main IPv4 or IPv6 addresses in these lists by the system.

One can use CIDR notation (like, 10.0.0.0/8 for IPv4, or 2001:db8:1a34:56cf::/64 for IPv6).

Additional Settings like Include List (INCLUDE) and Exclude All Other Hosts (“-all” Entry) helps in modifying additional SPF record settings.

Preview Of The Updated Record

This section will show the entire look of the updated SPF which will be based on its current modifications. One can install the new record by clicking on Install a Customized SPF Record.

Reverse DNS (PTR)

This section allows one:

  1. To manage a domain’s current pointer record (PTR), where a PTR record denotes the DNS record resolving an IP address to a domain or host name.
  2. This record is used by the server to perform a reverse DNS (rDNS) lookup to restore the associated domain or host name.
  3. A PTR record will require an associated A record for working.

In case a problem occurs with this record, the interface will provide all information about the problem and also provide instructions on how to fix your PTR record.

Conclusion

Email deliverability interface has certain functions and ways of managing that is outlined in this article.
