We send and receive email messages every day and sometimes due to the many messages that we receive (solicited and unsolicited) our mailbox disk space becomes full without even knowing about it.
The inability to monitor your mailbox disk space may cause problems for your business because if your mailbox is full, you won’t be able to receive any new messages and you might miss out on some important communications that are crucial to your operation.
However, if you are using cPanel as your hosting control panel, you can easily solve this problem by utilizing the Email Disk Usage tool to monitor your mailbox disk space.
The Email Disk Usage tool is a cPanel feature that allows you to view and monitor your Email mailbox so that you can quickly remove old messages and spam emails that eat up your mailbox’s disk space capacity.
This cPanel tool provides you with an easy way to check your current disk space consumption for each of your Email accounts and it even provides you with a breakdown of every disk space consumed per email folder that you have.
Furthermore, the Email Disk Usage tool gives you the capability to automatically delete your Emails based on their file size and date. On the other hand, we recommend that you backup important messages when using this feature so that you can avoid accidentally deleting important Email messages that fall into the category that you have selected.
To use the Email Disk Usage tool, simply follow the given steps below.
Step 1: Login to your cPanel account.
Step 2: In cPanel homepage, locate the Email section and click on the Email Disk Usage icon.
Step 3: After clicking on the Email Disk Usage icon, cPanel will direct you to Email Disk Usage interface page.
Step 4: In the Email Disk Usage interface page, select the email account that you want to check in the Account field drop down list.
Step 5: After selecting the email account that you want to check in the Account field, the page will display the details of the folders of that email account and its associated disk usage.
Step 6: If you want to delete emails to free up your Email disk space capacity, click the Manage link of the folder that you wish to delete Emails from.
Step 7: After clicking the Manage link, a Message to delete field and a Delete Permanently button will appear below the folder that you have selected.
