The ‘Update and Manage Security Questions in cPanel’s WHM’ interface gives access to update and manage cPanel account’s security questions. If you try to login to your cPanel account from a verified IP address, the system won’t raise any questions. If you access your account from an unverified IP address, the user has to answer security questions. If they are answered successfully, teh IP address is added to the list of the ‘verified IP addresses’.
Verified IP addresses can be added from which WHM account can be logged in without any challenge question. Please note that the changes made in this interface don’t change the security questions for other WHM, cPanel or Webmail accounts on the server.
To enforce WHM users answer certain security questions when they log in, enable the limit logins to verified IP Address setting in WHM’s Configure Security policies interface (WHM>>Home>>Security Center>>Configure Security Policies). If the security questions are updated manually and then the ‘Limit Logins to Verified IP addresses’ setting is enabled in WHM’s Configure Security Policies interface WHM>>Home>>Security Center>>,WHM automatically adds the IP address to the list of verified IP addresses.
Using the server’s root password, the security questions and answers cannot be modified. For that, click on Reset Security Questions and Answers.
Click Remove in the Functions column for the IP address which is to be removed to remove an access IP address.
cPanel provides a range of tools and modules that enforces critical security features. With malicious threats and attempts flooding the internet, modules such as Security Questions play an important role in screening out unverified and unauthorized IP addresses.
