Update and Manage Security Questions in cPanel’s WHM

A Brief Overview of cPanel
cPanel is a control panel which is used for web hosting. It has an interface which is graphical. WHM account’s security questions can be updated and managed by using the interface-Security Questions. The user can log in to WHM accounts without security questions by adding verified IP addresses. The security questions for other WHM, cPanel or Webmail accounts on the server do not change as a result of the changes in the interface. “The Limit logins to verified IP” addresses setting in WHM’s Configure Security Policies interface (WHM – Home -Security Center >-Configure Security Policies) must be enabled, if the user wants to answer security questions. The user can also configure his own security questions by using this option.

Edit Questions and Answers

The following steps must be performed if the user wishes to edit the security questions:

  • The Edit Questions and Answers option must be clicked.
  • The desired question must be selected or entered.
  • A proper answer to the question must be entered in the appropriate textbox.
  • After clicking continue a confirmation message appears.

Add or Remove Recognized IP Addresses

The following steps must be performed to add or remove a recognized IP address:

  • The Add or Remove Recognized IP Addresses option must be selected to add, manage, or remove verified IP addresses. The user does not have to answer security questions when he logs in from a verified IP address.
  • The IP Address that the user wishes to add must be added to the IP TextBox and then the option Add must be selected.

Special Note:

By using an asterisk (*) in the last octet any IP address in the specified IP address may block to skip security questions at login.

  • The user must click Remove next to the IP address that the user wishes to remove.
