How to Manage the Wheel Group Users?

Introduction:

cPanel is a web hosting program which inherently provides us with different interfaces like boxTrapper, ModSecurity, PostgreSQL etc. It also provides us with wheel group management. This works as a security interface in cPanel.

This interface helps you in managing the wheel group’s membership in cPanel. This system allows users in the wheel group with the permission of execution of the ‘su’ command. This grants a user to have root access or super-user access.

Management of wheel group users:

Procedure to add a user in wheel group in following steps:

  • At first login to your WHM account.
  • Then go to the Security Center option and then click on Manage Wheel Group Users Link.
  • Select the add user option under the wheel group menu.
  • Then select the user whom you want to add in the wheel group.
  • Then select the wheel group in which you want the user to be added.
  • Then select add to group.

The user will be added in the selected wheel group and will get root access.

Removal of the wheel group user:

To remove a user from you will have to go through these following steps:

  • First you will have to login to your WHM account.
  • Then go to the Security Center option and then select the Manage Wheel Group Users Link.
  • Select the desired user under the Remove a user option from the wheel group menu.
  • The user will be removed.

Conclusion:

This interface helps you to add or remove a user in wheel group in cPanel which provides root access to the user or prohibits a user.
