Moodle is a free open-source education management software tool that allows teachers, company trainers, instructors, and other educators to build websites integrated with dynamic courses that can be used to extend learning in any part of the globe at any given time.
The Moodle learning platform provides educators access to hundreds of built-in features that they can use to create their online courses. Moreover, they can upload their own content, insert collaborative activities like wikis, glossaries, and forums, and create gradable quizzes and assignments to make their student’s online learning experience fun and exciting.
Installing the Moodle software manually can be a little bit troublesome. Fortunately, Moodle can be easily installed via the cPanel using the program Softaculous.
Softaculous is a great program to use for installing software on your server. With Softaculous, you don’t need to download files or manually connect to the server when uploading. It is a convenient and efficient tool for any of your installation needs.
To install Moodle using Softaculous in cPanel, follow the simple instructions given below.
Step 1: Login to your cPanel account.
Step 2: In cPanel menu, locate the “Software/Services” section.
Step 3: Click on Softaculous Icon in the Software / Services section.
Step 4: When you enter the Softaculous interface, a Moodle logo will appear on the page.
Step 5: Put your mouse icon over the Moodle logo to display the “Install” button.
Step 6: Click Install
Step 7: After clicking Install, a software setup page will appear.
Step 8: In the software setup page, select the Moodle software version that you want to install.
Step 9: Skip the “Choose Protocol” field (On the other hand, if SSL is required, you can set it here).
Step 10: In “Choose Domain” field, select from the drop down list the domain name that you want Moodle to be installed in.
Step 11: Leave the “In Directory”, “Data Directory”, “Database Name” and “Cron Job” fields as it is.
Step 12: In the “Site Settings” Section, enter your preferred site name and site description in the fields provided.
Step 13: Skip the “Database Settings” section.
Step 14: In the “Admin Account” section, enter your admin username, admin password, first name, last name, and a valid email address in the fields provided.
The data that you enter here will serve as your Moodle administrator login credentials.
Step 15: In the “Choose Language” section, select your preferred language settings from the drop down list.
Step 16: Click the “Install” button.
Step 17: Softaculous will check the submitted data (This may take a couple of minutes).
Step 18: Once Softaculous is finished checking the submitted data, you will be redirected to a page that indicates that the installation was successful.
Step 19: Click the “Return to Overview” link at the bottom of the page.
Step 20: You have now successfully installed Moodle using Softaculous.
