Users can specify the highest number of emails that each domain on the server can send per hour by WHM. This can help in limiting the amount of spam and keep a better check on bandwidth that the server of the domains use.
But, system will stop blocking the additional messages at SMTP time, if it reaches its highest limit. So, as a result, the system starts taking the messages and discarding them accordingly.
For doing this, user has to navigate to the Mail section of WHM’s Tweak Settings interface (WHM >> Home >> Server Configuration >> Tweak Settings) and enter a value for the Max hourly emails for each domain setting.
The value that the user will enter will refer the default limit for all of the domains on the sever. But for domains where you will manually set a different limit, will not be under consideration.
It is important to note that user is not allowed to disable the Max hourly emails per domain setting for an account or domain. It only regulates the limit of sent emails on remote email deliveries.
For doing this, user has to first navigate to WHM’s Modify an Account interface (WHM >> Home >> Account Functions >> Modify an Account) and then put a value to set the Hourly Email by Domain Relayed configuration setting. To save the changes, user has to click on Save option.
To do this, user can follow these steps with the help of command line as the root user.
Firstly, user has to open the /var/cpanel/users/username file with the help of a text editor. Here, the username refers to the account that regulates the domain.
Then, he has to add a line containing this following text:
In this above mentioned line, user has to then add the domain name which we wishes to use, an equals sign (=), and the number of email messagthethat he wishes to allow the domain to send per hour. It needs to be like this line:
After putting all the required information, user has to save the changes to the /var/cpanel/users/username file.
User can finally run the /usr/local/cpanel/scripts/updateuserdomains script, that will keep a check on whether the account has reached its maximum email limit or not.
All information on setting the email sent limit is outlined in this review.
