AutoInstall SSL

Secure sockets layer (SSL) creates an encrypted connection between a browser and web server, which ultimately means that any information passed between the server and browser will be secure or private.

This year Google has pushed websites to install security certificates, in a bid to make the net more secure and allay user concerns about cyber security.

By using AutoInstall SSL you can use cPanel to ensure your site is compliant in a matter of minutes. Simply enter the token you received with your security certificate and follow the verification prompts.

SSH Access

Using SSH (Secure Shell) means you can transfer files securely, and login to a server or another computer over the Internet, using an encrypted connection. SSH keys are used as an alternative to passwords but are extremely secure because the user needs the key in order to gain access.

Public and private SSH keys need to be paired together in order to work. The public key is held in the remote location while the private key is held on the local server or computer. When a login is attempted the two keys are compared and only if they match will access be granted.

ModSecurity

Also called the “Swiss Army Knife” of the WAF world, ModSecurity is a firewall layer that adds an extra tier of protection for your website. Web administrators can use it to log and monitor website activity and control access to websites. You have the option to enable or disable this feature, but if you’re serious about your online security, it’s an absolute must.

Hotlink Protection

Sometimes other websites will link to websites hosted on your website and steal your bandwidth in the process. Hotlink Protection allows you to set the sites that are permitted to link to you, and any others will be denied.

IP Blocker

If your website is attracting spam or you’ve picked up that unauthorized parties are trying to access your site, IP Blocker enables you to prevent specific IP addresses and ranges from visiting your website.

You can also try to match domain names to IP addresses if you are the target of spam emails.
