Additions Resellers Should Take a Closer Look At

Recent upgrades, such as Paper Lantern, allow web hosts the chance to change the overall experience of their customers. They can now change the colors and the vibe of the dashboard, so that their clients can experience a more customized approach to branding.

Preparing for Customization

For the customization of cPanel & WHM dashboard, the starting point is the cPanel Reseller account. Resellers would need the following:

  • Reseller account
  • cPanel & WHM version 11.50 or later
  • HTML/CSS/JS basics
  • Command Line basics
  • Design software
  • A plan

For the plan, begin by thinking of the areas you want to see in a more customized manner. This may have something to do with the colors, the layout, or the behavior interactions of the dashboard.

Increasing Brand Awareness through Customization

You want your customers to find it easy to remember your brand, so you should give them something that they will easily identify with and associate quickly to your brand. You can start off by customizing the cPanel dashboard with a custom logo.

To do this, just follow these steps:

  1. Log into the WHM dashboard.
  2. Go to “cPanel” then “Branding”.
  3. Enter the name of your company.
  4. Upload the logo of your company.
  5. Upload a favicon.
  6. Hit on “Save”.

Once you are done, you can just go back to your cPanel dashboard. You will then see both the logo and the favicon.

Getting Your Own Theme

Most of the customizing procedures is carried out through the use of CSS.

To customize and upload a theme on your cPanel dashboard, here are the steps you should follow:

  1. Go to your cPanel dashboard then navigate to “Home.” Go to “Files” and then choose “File Manager”.
  2. In the event you encounter a message asking which directory you would like to use, hit on the “Home Directory” option.
  3. Once you are in “File Manager,” go to var/cpanel/.
  4. Create a new folder and name it “reseller” if you cannot find one already there.
  5. Head to var/cpanel/reseller/. Here, create another folder, and this time, name it “styled”.
  6. Enter the “styled” folder and create another folder with the name you want to call your theme.
  7. In the same directory, create a file named “styles.css”.
  8. Right click on the “styles.css” file and hit on the “code edit” option.
  9. In the “styles.css” enter this: .navbar-cpanel {background-color: blue;}
  10. Hit the “Save Changes” option.

You may not get it right the first time, but it will not take long till you get accustomed to all these customization and personalization procedures for your cPanel dashboard.
