Add on Domains for cPanel

A Brief Overview of Add-On Domain Interface
cPanel is a control panel which is used for web hosting. It essentially has an interface which is graphical in nature. Add on domains are an integral part of cPanel. Multiple domains can be seamlessly controlled from within a single account by using this particular feature. A new domain name can be linked to a directory and the files can be saved in that particular directory. The maximum number of Add-on Domains that can be created are specified by the Hosting Provider.

A new domain name can be linked to a directory and the files can be saved in that particular directory. The maximum number of Add-on Domains that can be created are specified by the Hosting Provider.

Create an Addon domain

The following steps have to be performed in order to create an Addon Domain

  • The new Add-on Domain’s name has to be entered in the New Domain Name text box. When the domain name is entered, the sub domain and Document Root text boxes are automatically populated by cPanel.
  • A unique username has to be entered in the Subdomain text box to create Multiple Domains with the same usernames and different extensions.(Sayexample.com)
  • The directory’s name has to be entered in the Document Root Text Box to select a document root other than the automatically populated value.
  • An FTP account can be created by selecting the Create an FTP account which is associated with the Add-on Domain check box.

 

The password is evaluated on a scale of 100 points. A green password strength meter shows that the password is equal to or greater than the required password strength.

The File Manager option has to be clicked to add files to the Add-On Domain’s Home Directory. A sub domain is automatically created when an Addon Domain is created in the cPanel interface. The information can be altered or deleted if the sub domain is to be altered or deleted.

When an Addon Domain, Main Domain, Parked Domain or Sub Domain is created, the domain with the best available existing certificate will be made available by the system. In absence of the certificate, a self-signed certificate will be generated.

A request for an Auto SSL Certificate is generated by the system to secure the new domain and install it. By following the proper procedures the Auto SSL is enabled for the account by the system.

 

Modify Addon Domain

The following steps need to be performed to modify an Addon Domain:

  • The edit icon needs to be clicked () for the Addon Domain that has to be managed under the Document Root column.
  • The new file path has to be entered in the Addon Domain’s document root in the available text box and the change option has to be clicked.

Enable or disable Addon Domain redirection

The following steps need to be performed to enable or disable Addon Domain redirection:

  • Manage Redirection has to be clicked to manage the Addon Domain that the user wishes to manage.
  • The link has to be entered in respect of the domain which the user wishes to redirect.
  • The save option has to be clicked and in order to disable redirection, the option Disable Redirection has to be clicked.

Remove an Addon Domain

The following needs to be performed in order to remove an Addon Domain. The option remove has to be clicked to remove the domain that the user wishes to remove and then the yes option has to be clicked to confirm it.

Search Add-on domains

The following needs to be performed in order to search an Addon Domain.The Search Criteria has to be entered in the Search Text Box and then the option Go has to be clicked.
