As an owner of a website, it is worth knowing the profile of users visiting your site. Having this valuable information will provide you if your website is on the right track in targeting your desired viewers. If your website is on the e-commerce business, this information will be significantly relevant to create marketing campaigns tailored and directed to interest groups to optimize the cost of your ads.
When we say demographics, it is the segmentation of a particular population based on variables such as age, gender, income, occupation, family size, religion, race, nationality, and education. For online demographics, this can be further be broadened into affinity for lifestyle and purchasing interests in the areas of sports, food, technology, travel.
Having information on the demographics of your website can help you tailor your site accordingly. If you find that most of your people visiting your site are in the 35-44 age category and have affinity to sports, you can use this information in improving your site content to make it more appealing to people in this age bracket. You can place ads related to sports or its related derivatives like sports clothing or sport travel destinations so your website will seem primarily centered on sports.
Fortunately, there are already several vendors specializing in collecting information on the profile of your site visitors. Following are several of the popular vendors providing website visitor information for free:

STEP 1: Log in to your cPanel.
STEP 2: Navigate to “Logs” section.
STEP 3: Click on the AWStats icon. A screen will appear with a list of domain names.
STEP 4: Click on the View icon opposite the domain name which you would like to monitor.
STEP 5: This will then show you a bar graph which displays the number of pages, visitors(unique and returning), hits (number of image, text, or video downloaded), and bandwidth of that domain over a specific period of time.
